Jackie Anne Shepherd

Jackie Anne Shepherd, 71,former Salida resident, died at her home in Florence, Colorado on March 18th, 2024 after a battle with cancer. She was born August 9, 1952, at Army Camp Crowder in Neosho, Missouri to Capt. Harold Shepherd and Geraldine “Jerry” Shepherd. In 1955 Harold was stationed to Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, moving the family to what Jackie considered her home state of Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Tom. At a young age, Jackie was very creative and took an interest in art. Jackie received a bachelors degree in art education from Eastern New Mexico University. After graduating she found employment as commercial artist and middle school art teacher. She moved to Salida in 1984 and loved living in the area. Jackie was resourceful and created art from found objects- her most recent projects included creating intricate shelves and boxes using recycled cardboard. She hoped that her art can live on and bring someone joy. She found greatest peace being in the mountains, specifically the San Juans, or near a river. As a Buddhist, she reminisced that she hopes to be reincarnated as a beloved family dog. No services are planned at this time. On line condolences may be sent to lewisandglenn.com.
